The Flying Razor Aircraft DVR
Engineered with precision and inspired by our proven DR. I platform, the Flying Razor sets a new standard in resilience and reliability. This advanced digital video recorder design actively suppresses EMI/RF interface and minimizes vibration and shock, ensuring optimal performance in even the harshest environments. Whether facing extreme conditions or demanding operational requirements, the Flying Razor delivers unwavering stability and superior engineering. The Flying Razor is truly a one of a kind aircraft dvr.
Introducing The Flying Razor
The Flying Razor is the latest addition to Bad Wolf Technologies’ military and government DVR product line. Designed as a SWaP-optimized variant of the DR.I, it retains the same number of video inputs and leverages the same IMX System-on-Chip (SoC) and H.264 encoder. It also follows most of the same GPIO assignments for seamless integration.
The Flying Razor features a streamlined indicator LED layout, consistent with the Corsair and DR.I, just fewer. Its chassis is a modified version of the DR.I DVR, specifically engineered to reduce EMI/RFI emissions. This proven mechanical design helps mitigate electromagnetic interference while minimizing or eliminating vibration and shock to internal components.
The DR.I platform served as the ideal foundation for scaling the chassis and support electronics to meet evolving customer requirements with its lightweight build, weighing in under 1 pound.
Qualification & Trust
Path to Qualification
The Flying Razor DVR is currently offered as a non-qualified unit, making it ideal for commercial or non-critical deployments. For mission-critical applications, qualification is available upon request.
Independent Testing
Bad Wolf Technologies partners with government-approved third-party laboratories to conduct rigorous qualification testing. This ensures verified performance and compliance with military and aerospace standards.
Comprehensive Documentation
Qualified units include an Acceptance Test Report (ATR), Certificate of Conformity (COC), and full third-party lab reports, supporting deployment in regulated and demanding environments.
Transparent Standards
While some competitors rely on internal testing and self-certified claims, BWT delivers verified ruggedness and reliability through independent, government-approved testing protocols.
Rugged Design. Mission-Ready Performance.
Built from aerospace-grade 6061-T6 aluminum alloy, the Flying Razor is designed for harsh environments where reliability matters most. Its compact SWaP-optimized design measures just 2.968″ x 4.061″ x 1.493″ and weighs approximately 1.25 lbs., making it ideal for aircraft, rotorcraft, and other space-constrained platforms.
Key features include:
• Operating temperature: -40°C to +85°C
• MIL-DTL-38999 Series III connector
• Dual TNC video connections (BNC optional)
• Save and recall up to four system configurations
• Ethernet API/SDK for custom integration and control
• Qualification testing available to customer requirements
• Low power consumption of approximately 5 watts
• +9.5 VDC to +12 VDC input (+28 VDC optional)
